Cites sexualisation of under-aged character
Written by A. H. on 06 Jan 2015
Every now and again, we try to check in on the web site of the British Board of Film Classification - sometimes it tips us off about an otherwise unannounced release, at times it can fill us in on bonus materials for a forthcoming release, and very occasionally we witness a UK anime release on home video suffering a mandatory cut for one reason or another.
It's just such a cut that has been encountered by MVM Entertainment's DVD release of Battle Girls: Time Paradox, with the BBFC web site reporting that its first disc (containing episodes 1-7, not 1-17 as the entry suggests) sports an eight second, compulsory cut in a single episode due to "a scene in which the nudity of a character who is presented as under 16 is presented in a sexualised manner".
The release has otherwise passed without any further cuts, receiving a 15 certificate from the BBFC - we don't have any exact details on the episode or scene within which this cut was made at this time to gauge its impact upon the work as a whole.
This is the first mandatory cut that we can remember since the initial home video release of Code Geass, which received a minor cut from one episode for exactly the same reason.
Do you have any thoughts on this cut? Will it alter your purchasing decision for the series? Let us know your feelings in the comments!
