We'd heard loud whispers of this as far back as London Comic Con, but it seems that Amazon UK have now lifted the lid and confirmed it as reality - alongside their recent Digimon acquisitions, Manga Entertainment will now be releasing the Pokémon movies on home video in the UK.
As part of a number of additions to Amazon's UK listings, it appears that 14th November 2016 will bring us a Pokémon Movie 1-3 Collection on both DVD and also as a Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook, following hot on the heels of a release of Pokémon The Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages on DVD and Blu-ray on 24th October.
Other notable Manga Entertainment releases to appear on the retailer's site include an Akira 30th Anniversary Edition, confirmed as containing both the 1998 Streamline and 2001 Pioneer English dubs in an edition with a rigid collector's box, art card and movie poster as extras in a DVD, Blu-ray and digital Triple Play package. The release is set to land on 28th November.
Another potential surprise is that the distributor will be bringing Transformers the Movie our way as a 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Steelbook, in a two-disc Blu-ray set containing a new remaster of the film in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. We can expect this release to arrive on 12th December 2016.
Also confirmed are release dates for some of the company's Digimon releases: Digimon: Digital Monsters Season 1 arrives on DVD on 3rd October, with Season 2 coming on 14th November. Meanwhile, the more recent Digimon Adventure Tri: The Movie Part 1 will arrive on DVD and Collector's Edition Blu-ray on 19th December 2016. The Collector's Edition of that film will feature a slip cover, art card and mini-booklet.
So, nostalgia aplenty from Manga Entertainment in Q4 of 2016. Are you looking forward to indulging any of it?
