Anime Limited discuss early Escaflowne Ultimate Edition details

This and more on latest Anime Limited podcast

Today saw distributor Anime Limited release their latest podcast for the listening public, and alongside discussions of Anime Japan, ice cream and plenty more besides, company president Andrew Partridge also discussed some of their early plans for the Ultimate Edition release of classic series Escaflowne.

With the HD assets recently received by the distributor, for starters it's been confirmed that this release will contains both Escaflowne's TV series and movie. The set will be released with both English and Japanese audio with English subtitles, but alongside the standard version of the TV series that you might be familiar with there is also a "Director's Cut" in existence, which contains additional scenes and dialogue not included in the original TV broadcast version of the show.

With that in mind, Anime Limited are currently looking into how to present both the original and Director's Cut versions of the series within the Ultimate Edition - at this point, the plan is to include both versions on the same discs, with the Director's Cut version included in a subtitle-only format.

The series is currently tentatively slated for a Q4 release in 2015, with further details regarding the Ultimate Edition's contents still to be hammered out.
