BFI announces Anime Weekend details for June 2016

Written by A. H. on 26 Apr 2016

This year brings us another highly anticipated theatrical anime event, as the BFI Southbank in London host their biannual Anime Weekend, bringing with it some notable films screenings and guests to boot.

The weekend runs from Friday 3rd June until Sunday 5th June, with tickets to all of the screenings on offer going on general sale on 10th May at 11:30AM.

Here's a list of what you'll be able to see over the course of the weekend:

Friday, 3rd June
18:00 - Harmony (plus Q&A session with film director Michael Arias)
20:50 - Empire of Corpses

Saturday, 4th June
15:30 - The Boy and the Beast
18:15 - Ghost in the Shell
20:45 - Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie

Sunday, 5th June
17:20 - Garm Wars: The Last Druid
20:00 - Psycho-Pass: The Movie

Notably, Harmony (which enjoys its UK premiere at the event and also features a visit from one of the film's directors, Michael Arias) is listed by the BFI as being provided by Anime Limited, which could lead one to speculate that they've acquired at least this part of the trilogy of Project Itoh films for a domestic home video release in the future.

You can find more details about the Anime Weekend on the BFI web site.

UPDATE: Tickets to all of these screenings are now on sale at the link above.
