Ben-To, Good Luck Girl and Fairy Tail relegated to DVD-only UK releases

Ben-To, Good Luck Girl and Fairy Tail relegated to DVD-only UK releases

Were you looking forward to Manga Entertainment's first foray into Blu-ray only releases, as announced at Scotland Comic Con this September? Well, you may want to revise your level of excitement for these titles.

It's now been confirmed on Twitter by the distributor themselves that both Ben-To and Good Luck Girl, previously slated as Blu-ray only releases, will now be released on DVD only. Good Luck girl is currently set for a March 16th release, with Ben-To also set to follow around that date late in Q1 of 2015.

To compound this situation, we've also been advised that future collections of Fairy Tail, which has recently been enjoying both DVD and Blu-ray releases of late, will now be DVD only from collection three, which will be released on January 19th 2015, with future individual parts continuing to enjoy a DVD and Blu-ray release. This is in conflict with the current listings on Amazon UK's web site, suggesting that Fairy Tail part nine is DVD only, while Collection Three is DVD and Blu-ray - we'll advise of any further news as and when we hear it.

This news comes on the back of a difficult few months for Manga Entertainment, with notable subtitle and chapter marker issues on a number of prominent releases, and following the departure of both Jerome Mazandarani and Andrew Hewson from the company. If this is an indicator of the distributor's future direction, it seems like 2015 will be an even more disappointing one for fans looking for top quality products from the firm.
