Sometimes a change in release date is just plain bad news - nobody likes a delay to something they were looking forward to - but sometimes such a shift can be seen as a net positive.
This is certainly the case with Manga Entertainment's release of Digimon Adventure Tri: The Movie Part 1. This first of four films in the series was originally due for a Collector's Edition Blu-ray and Standard Edition DVD release on 20th of March (having itself slipped from an initial December 2016 date), but in an announcement on Twitter it's now been confirmed that the movie will now arrive on home video on 22nd May 2017 instead.
The reason for this is that the distributor has joined forces with Shout! Factory, who are releasing the film in North America - although unconfirmed this should allow access to the English dub commissioned for the film's US release (the UK release was originally slated as a subtitle-only offering), while Manga Entertainment themselves have promised "fantastic new bonus content" as a result of this partnership and date change.
Exactly what that content will be remains to be seen, but we'll keep you posted - given the lack of legal UK streaming options for the film hopefully it'll prove to be worth the wait.
