FUNimation delays Evangelion 3.33's US home video release

Delay will "probably" affect UK release date

Written by A. H. on 18 Dec 2013

Having been unveiled to much excitement and fanfare at this October's MCM London Comic Con, we were all set to see Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo hit the UK on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 31st 2014.

However, today has brought news that US distributor of the film, FUNimation Entertainment, are delaying their own home video release to a date yet to be determined in 2014 "due to overwhelming theatrical demand".

As any UK physical release will have to come after the US home video launch, this delay looks likely to have a similar impact upon Manga Entertainment's own home video release plans, with Jerome Mazandarani acknowledging on Twitter that this announcement will "probably" also cause a delay to that UK release.

Now, all we can do is wait and see just how long FUNimation intend to stretch out their theatrical screening plans and how heavily that alters the US release date...
