Major issue reported with When Marnie Was There's UK Blu-ray release

Issues noted with multiple players

Written by A. H. on 03 Oct 2016

We've just mentioned it in our new release news post for this week, but given that the reports we're hearing are escalating we believe it would be a good idea to give the issue some more prominence.

With customers having received their copies early over the weekend, we've received a number of reports of issues with the Blu-ray component of STUDIOCANAL's UK release of Studio Ghibli's When Marnie Was There - customers are reporting issues with the disc causing constant laser movement in their player, which causes noisy playback of the disc and stuttering to the film's playback at best, and complete lock-ups of some Blu-ray players at worst. Issues have been reported over a wide variety of players and video game consoles, so the problem at hand doesn't seem to be an isolated one.

We're yet to hear an official response from STUDIOCANAL as to the issue, but we'll keep you posted as and when we hear more - for now though, be aware that there seems to be a major issue with the Blu-ray disc within this release that will comprimise playback and may even cause hardware issues with some Blu-ray players.

If you've already purchased this product and have experienced similar issues (or indeed have had no issues at all), then please let us know in the comments so that we can compile any further feedback.
