New Releases - September 29th 2014

Have you poured yourself a Monday morning coffee yet? Good, because you might need it as we have a lot of new releases to look over today. If you're sitting comfortably, then let's get cracking.

Topping the bill for us this week is STUDIOCANAL's release of Hayao Miyazaki's final theatrical feature film The Wind Rises, which arrives on DVD, DVD/Blu-ray DoublePlay and DVD/Blu-ray Collector's Edition. Our review of this fascinating film is now up on the site, and we'll have plenty more Wind Rises content over the coming week including a competition and an interview with a member of Studio Ghibli's animation staff!

Elsewhere, MVM Entertainment today release romantic comedy-drama Toradora! on DVD and Blu-ray in Complete Series Collection form. You can read our review (spoiler: we gave it ten out of ten) right here.

Also available from MVM Entertainment today is the delayed DVD release of the Bodacious Space Pirates Complete Series Collection, following on from its Blu-ray release last week.

Then we come to Manga Entertainment, whose highlight of the week is the release of the original Ghost in the Shell as a remastered Blu-ray Steelbook edition. Unfortunately, no review discs were available for online media for this release - we're hopeful that our retail copy will land today to provide video and review coverage of shortly, but as we've heard mixed reviews of the film's video quality from outlets that did receive early discs you may want to hold fire on your purchasing decision for now until we give it a once over.

Last but not least, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet arrives on DVD and Blu-ray today - we should have our review up on the site for this complete series collection later in the week.

In contrast, things are pretty quiet on the manga front this week, with new volumes of Fairy Tail and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin the only new releases on our list.

Next week, we finally see the third and final Berserk movie arrive in the UK, alongside the second half of both From the delayed New World on Blu-ray and Robotics;Notes. Until then, take care!
