STUDIOCANAL UK launches When Marnie Was There Blu-ray replacement programme

Replacing faulty Blu-ray copies of the film

Written by A. H. on 15 Oct 2016

After hearing a growing number of reports of issues with STUDIOCANAL's UK edition of Studio Ghibli's When Marnie Was There - and more specifically the Blu-ray within its relvant SKUs - a couple of weeks ago, we've seen the product pulled from some retailers with no word as to the actual state of play with with the release.

However, it's now been confirmed by the distributor themselves that some players do indeed have issues playing back the disc, and as a result STUDIOCANAL are replicating a new version of the Blu-ray and also offering up a replacement programme to affected customers.

STUDIOCANAL's full statement on the issue - and how to apply for a replacement - is as follows:

We have established that there is a player-specific problem affecting the When Marnie Was There Blu-ray disc. A new disc is being replicated and will be available in the coming weeks in October.

Most customers will not experience any issues with playback of the Blu-ray but if you have been affected, you can send your faulty Blu-ray disc along with your name, address and e-mail to:

When Marnie Was There
Technicolor Home Entertainment (Returns)
c/o Barsan Global Logistics
Pilgrims Walk, Keresley End

Your replacement disc will then be posted out to you when ready.

Please only send us the Blu Ray disc itself as we will be unable to replace any other items if these are returned in error.

It appears that a fixed version of this release will find its way into retail next month.
