If you're a fan of manga, and shoujo manga in particular, and find yourself in the London area over the next three months, then you may want to make your way to the House of Illustration in King's Cross.
The reason for this is that an exhibition titled Shojo Manga: The World of Japanese Girls' Comics will be hosted at this location from this Friday, 18th March until Sunday, 12th June.
Here's a little about the event:
Discover the world of Shōjo Manga (girls' comics in Japanese) in the UK's first major touring exhibition of the genre, from its 'golden era' to the present day.
Japan's shōjo manga culture dates back to the post-war years but only evolved into its broad-ranging and hugely-popular form of today as a result of the innovative work of a small group of artists in the 1970s. This exhibition explores the work of pioneering 1970s artists Akiko Hatsu and Keiko Takemiya, and contemporary artist Yukiko Kai, through elaborate Genga'(Dash) prints.
Adult tickets cost £7, and you can find out more about the event or book tickets at the House of Illustration web site.
