The King of Monsters lands on Netflix

Written by D. R. on 17 Jan 2018

The King of Monsters has seen something of a resurgence lately, with Shin Godzilla marking the beast’s return in Japan and with the recent American effort Godzilla, as well as the forthcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, introducing the classic monster to a younger western audience.

With the world’s favourite kaiju stomping around again, after something of a hiatus, Netflix couldn’t wait to get in on the monster action. As such they have begun streaming Godzilla’s latest animated outing. This series appears to be a much more mature effort than Godzilla’s previous forays into animation. And hopefully enough time has passed for fans to recover from the mediocre 70s Godzilla animated series, or the 90s Godzilla: The Series. This new Godzilla anime is simply titled Godzilla by Netflix, though its full title is Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters and it is produced by Toho Animation and animated by Polygon Pictures.

Synopsis: A desperate group of refugees attempts to recolonize Earth 20,000 years after Godzilla took over. But one young man wants revenge above all else.

Godzilla is availible for streaming from today on Netflix, for subscribers only.
