Best Animated Feature Film nomination
Written by A. H. on 14 Jan 2016
It's that time of year when we get to peruse the nominations for this year's Academy Awards, and once again a film from Studio Ghibli finds itself in the spotlight with a nomination of its very own.
This time the nomination comes courtesy of When Marnie Was There, which has picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. The film, directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and based on a novel of the same name, was released in Japan in 2014, and was screened at last year's BFI London Film Festival, with a wider theatrical run courtesy of STUDIOCANAL expected this year in advance of its home video release.
Fellow nominees for Best Animated Feature Film are Disney Pixar's Inside Out, Aardman's Shaun the Sheep Movie, and Anomalisa and Boy And The World.
While it seems unlikely that anything can compete with Inside Out in this category, it marks another highlight for the studio with what may prove to be their final feature-length film.
