Yuri!!! on Ice theatrical film announced

Almost out of nowhere it turned into the megahit of 2016, capturing the hearts and wallets of anime fans both in Japan and the west - given its unexpected success, it's no surprise to hear confirmation that there will be more Yuri!!! on Ice on the way.

The news came at the end of a stage event celebrating the series, at which it was confirmed that the  ice skating series will be getting a theatrical feature - what's more this will be no recap movie, but rather an original film upon which production has already begun.

There are no further details at present, and no news on when we might expect to see the film in Japan, but we'll certainly be interested to see where the franchise heads next off the back of its phenomenal TV series.
